ABOUT

Mud + Maker is a small-batch ceramics studio creating design-led pieces for everyday use and long-term love. Inspired by early mornings, late nights, and the objects that quietly shape our rituals, we craft each form by hand – with intention, edge, and a deep respect for material.

Our aesthetic lives somewhere between mid-century and moody – think strong coffee, soft jazz, vinyl crackle, and a cigarette resting on a side plate. Every piece we make is tactile, timeless, and built to be part of the background hum of your life: on countertops, at cocktail hour, during long conversations and quiet pauses.

We believe in good form, honest materials, and making slowly. We fire in small batches. We make things to be used – not collected. The goal is simple: to shape objects that feel as good in your hand as they look on your shelf.

OUR STORY

Mud + Maker started the way many good things do – slowly, and a little off to the side. It began with quiet evenings at the wheel, a desire to make with hands instead of screens, and an obsession with the kinds of objects that people reach for again and again.

The first pieces weren’t perfect – they weren’t meant to be. But they held something worth pursuing: a mood, a form, a feeling. Over time, those pieces became collections. A studio took shape. And a simple philosophy followed: good design, made by hand, at a human pace.

Mud + Maker now produces small-batch ceramics that balance function with feeling – built to be lived with, not just looked at. From coffee mugs to cocktail tumblers, the pieces are grounded in everyday rituals and made to last well beyond them.

THE MAKER

Mud + Maker was founded by Bonnie Jackson, a ceramicist with a background in architecture and a long-standing love of form, proportion, and materials that hold memory. Alongside working in the built environment, clay offers a slower, more tactile way to shape space – one object at a time.

Each piece reflects an architectural eye: clean lines, intentional curves, and a strong connection to how things are used and lived with. From sketch to wheel to glaze, every form is made in-house and by hand, balancing precision with softness and utility with soul.

All Mud + Maker pieces are created by hand at Clay Workshop – a beautiful, community-focused ceramics studio that supports both emerging makers and curious beginners. If you’ve ever wanted to get your hands into clay, they offer workshops and courses for all experience levels. It’s where this practice started, and where it continues to grow.

GOT AN IDEA?

Every piece is made in small batches, one at a time. But you don’t need to wait for a special release or pay more for something personal – most items can be made to order, in the same spirit and price as the rest of the collection. If you want a custom version of something you see – a different glaze, a slight shape tweak, a set built just for your table – just get in touch. We keep it easy, thoughtful, and human.
